OUR PROCESS TO BRING YOU SUCCESS

Work + Life
1

CONSULTATION

Your needs take center stage. We begin by asking the right questions to gain a deeper understanding of your space. For residential clients, we ask you to come into our showroom, look around at our products, get to know more about the design possibilities, and then discuss your vision before we create a customized concept drawing.

For commercial & residential clients, we invite you to share your space plans and schedule a meeting, enabling us to comprehensively outline the project's scope.

2

DESIGN

Next, our skilled team crafts visual mockups, accompanied by an initial budget assessment to fit what you’re looking for. From here, we will make any necessary edits and start focusing on the details. Before beginning your project, the consultant you’re working with will complete a walk through and field measurement of your space as well as answer any additional questions.

3

DELIVERY & INSTALL

Lead times vary based on project size and material choices. We're proud to uphold a five to eight-week lead time, spanning from the deposit phase to the installation finale. To begin production, we request a minimum deposit of 50% or a purchase order. As installation day approaches, the remaining balance becomes due.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Wall beds suitable for daily use?

Yes, Wall beds can be used for everyday use. However, it is important to indicate if it will be an everyday bed versus a guest room bed when working with your designer. We would use a different mechanism for everyday use versus an occasional “extra bedroom.”

Do wall beds require a custom mattress?

Wall beds do not require custom mattresses, but it is essential to have a mattress that fits the bed's dimensions, thickness, and weight requirements for the pistons/springs. We make it easy at Minnesota Office Furniture which is why we always include mattresses with your purchase, so it's ready to use after installation.

What is the difference between piston and spring mechanisms?

The main differences between piston and spring-operated wall beds lie in their mechanisms, ease of use, adjustability, durability, and cost. While both types serve the purpose of space-saving furniture, individuals may choose one over the other based on their specific needs and preferences.

Spring-Operated Wall Beds:

  • Mechanism: Spring-operated wall beds utilize a system of mechanical springs to assist in lifting and lowering the bed. These springs are tensioned to provide the necessary force to raise the bed against the wall.
  • Ease of Use: While spring-operated beds are generally easy to use, they may require more effort to lift and lower compared to piston-operated beds. The tension from the springs can make the operation slightly less smooth.
  • Adjustability: Spring-operated beds may have limited adjustability compared to piston beds. The springs are typically set to accommodate a specific mattress weight and adjusting them may require more technical expertise.
  • Durability: The durability of spring-operated beds can vary depending on the quality of the springs and construction. Regular maintenance may be required to ensure smooth operation over time.
  • Cost: Spring-operated wall beds are often more budget-friendly compared to piston beds due to the simpler mechanical design.

Piston (Gas Spring) Wall Beds:

  • Mechanism: Piston wall beds use a hydraulic system, typically gas springs, to assist in lifting and lowering the bed. Gas springs are filled with compressed gas that creates pressure, aiding in the smooth operation of the bed.
  • Ease of Use: Piston wall beds are generally easier to lift and lower compared to spring-operated beds. The gas springs provide consistent and controlled movement, making them convenient for daily use.
  • Adjustability: Gas springs can be adjusted to accommodate different mattress weights, ensuring the bed remains balanced and easy to operate.
  • Durability: Gas springs are known for their durability and longevity, providing reliable performance over time with minimal maintenance.
  • Cost: Piston wall beds tend to be slightly more expensive than spring-operated beds due to the added cost of the hydraulic mechanism.

What is the difference between regular and extended leg?

The difference is two inches in height, off the ground where the bed is, and the height of the box. The preferred choice by clients is extended leg as you are not super low to the ground. However, if your ceiling will not allow for the extra height, then you have the choice between regular leg or switching to horizontal.

What is the difference between Horizontal and Vertical Murphy Beds?

Side Tilt and Vertical refers to the orientation of the bed when opening. A side tilt is the horizontal orientation, and a Vertical is the vertical orientation. Many customers use side when they do not have enough clearance in their space for vertical.
